On the site of the 17th-century Fencing School stands the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre, built in 2014, whose architecture and retractable roof echo English theaters from Queen Elizabeth I’s era.
Each summer, the venue is the heart of the Shakespeare Festival—a vibrant event showcasing various interpretations of William Shakespeare’s works. Summer also hosts many concerts and rooftop film screenings.
